Kiss, Marry, Kill!

This blog is about people who, I personally would either kiss, marry or kill in the great Gatsby. The characters in the great Gatsby are very well described and liberated, but there are some characters in the great Gatsby that I personally do not like at all; this might just be just because of one thing they did.

Kiss- I would kiss tom over the other characters for certain reasons but some of the reasons for me picking tom to kiss and not kill or Mary is because I feel that he didn't really do anything majorly wrong besides cheat on his wife. But then later wants his wife to be with him and doesn't want Daisy to be with Gatsby. “I'm going…” “better care of you…” “now on…” Tom says this on page 133. The reason why I wouldn't kill Tom is because I don't think he's that bad of a guy and that he's just made mistakes in the past and is trying to make up for it, but it hasn't all been mistakes in his marriage with Daisy. “I carried you down…” “to keep your shoes dry.” “Not that day…” Tom says this to Daisy after she says she never loved.  Tom really says this to try and show Daisy that not everything in their marriage has been bad or ruckus. The reason why I would kiss him and not kill him is because Tom does seem like a nice guy, he does it seem like he would hurt you purposefully  if he did love you. “I know you didn’t mean too” this was after Daisy hurt her little finger. But also he does have money so I wouldn't kill him. “His family were enormously wealthy…” Also he's very big and strong and played football. “the most powerful ends that ever played at New Haven…” I wouldn't marry him because he likes to cheat on his wife but I wouldn't kill him because he has money, he played football and he is trying to be a better husband.

Marry- Gatsby is the person that I would marry. The reason why I'd marry Gatsby is because I really think he is a good guy. He just shows it very differently and people take it the wrong way. For example, he's trying to get back what he had with Daisy when they were younger but now doesn't get the same affection now that they met again five years later. Gatsby just wants to be loved and that's why he's trying to convince Daisy, and try to get Daisy to love him again as she did when they were younger. “been going on…” “for five years…” “both of us loved each other all this time…” another reason why I marry Gatsby is because I think that he was screwed over in the book, meeting that he definitely shouldn't have taken the blame for Daisy killing Myrtle, when Daisy could have just said I did it. After Gatsby took the blame for Daisy then  she just left him. “Was Daisy driving?” Gatsby answered “yes.” I honestly just feel bad and sorry for Gatsby because he really did love Daisy,”i loved her” “deeper in love every minute.” He took the blame for her and then she just left him, but then he gets killed for it.”heard the shots...” “Mr. Gatsby’s dead...” This is why I would marry Gatsby because I think that he is really a good person, and tries to do the right thing; it just comes out the wrong way some of the time.  Why wouldn't she want somebody to go through so much just for you as when he moved across the bay just to be close to Daisy or when he threw a tea party just to see her. “Nobody's coming to tea.” But also when he says “I want to get the grass cut.” He wants to impress Daisy because she's high class and he just wants everything to be perfect. Why wouldn't you want to marry somebody like that!

Kill- I am 100% absolutely killing Mr. Wilson. I hate Mr. Wilson because he killed Gatsby. Mr. Wilson is just stupid, he took a man's word, Without any evidence, Mr. Wilson just believed Tom so quickly that he didn't kill his wife, but Wilson saw Tom driving it earlier that day,“it's a nice yellow one, said Wilson.” After Mr. Wilson commented Tom on the car that he was driving Tom says “like to buy it?” In telling that he owned the car, that's not althought when Tom find out that Myrtle got killed by the yellow car that he was driving earlier. Then Tom goes to say that that wasn’t his car that he was driving“it's a blue car a coupe“ in telling that he never owned the yellow car that ran over Myrtle. And then he has the audacity to go and kill this man that he does it actually no if he killed his wife or not. Mr. Wilson just shoot Gatsby without actually having any evidence or any proof that it was Gatsby who ran over his wife. “mr. Gatsby's dead…”  This man has the audacity to kill himself after he had already killed Gatsby like what kind of person do you have to be to kill yourself after you killed another person. “so Wilson's body a little way off in the grass…” I just hate it so much that he just killed Gatsby but he really didn't know the truth and that's how stupid this is.  Another reason why I would kill Mr. Wilson and not marry him or kiss him is the reason because I think he is mentally unstable. The reason for this is because when he finds out that his wife had died he starts the only morning her but acting crazy.  “while George Wilson rocked himself back-and-forth on the couch inside…” another reason why I think he is mentally unstable is because when Wilson was said that he had his wife locked up upstairs he said it calmly. “I've got my wife locked in up there,…” “explain Wilson calmly…” but then he goes on to say “she's going to stay up there…” “till the day after tomorrow… ” “move away…” only crazy people will lock other people up. Just think about it he's basically kidnapping her why do kidnappers do they lock their captive up so they can't leave, no only that it does say in the book that “acting sort of crazy” and that's about Mr. Wilson.  Not only is he unstable but he beats his wife,” beat me!” “throw me down and beat me dirty little coward…” when he locked up his wife In the room. Also he can come off rude, just like when he was talking to Tom about buying the car. It wasn't  soon enough for him so he made a snarky comment to Tom “works pretty slow, don't he?” Entailing that when is it gonna be done and waiting. Those are the reasons why I would kill him I very much dislike Mr. Wilson.

Kiss- I would kiss myrtle. The reason why I would kiss Myrtle and not marry or kill her is because the only bad thing she really did was cheat on her husband. Myrtle kind of just got caught up in a bad lie and got the short end of the stick compared to Tom, meeting that poor girl who got killed and beaten. Yes she did cheat on her husband but she did not really do anything else. She was trying to be classy by looking good and smelling good, trying to be the girl that Tom wanted.“ Drugstore…” cold cream and a small flask of perfume…” “had on a cream colored dress…” She was just trying to impress Tom and make him want her. When Myrtle saw Tom pull up in the yellow car with Jordan and Nick in it she was so jealous because that's when she was up in the room looking down at them and she just wanted to be with Tom. “her eyes wide with jealous terror…” “fixed on Tom…” all myrtle wanted was to be loved and have the life that Daisy had but got the short end of the stick when it came to the affair with Tom. Meaning that Tom didn't have any consequences but she did, she got beat by her husband and also was going to move away a couple days after. “beat me!” “Throw me down and beat me…” Then when she thought she was saving herself she actually just killed herself. “moment later…” “she rushed out…” “waving her hands and shouting…”  “the car death…” I really do feel bad for her. These are the reasons why I would kiss myrtle.

Marry- I would marry Jordan. I really like Jordan's character although she doesn't really do a lot in the book I just love how she is. She doesn't do anything wrong in my opinion. Jordan just kind of wants to be in the conversation and kind of wants to be in the conflict or whatever is going on. Jordan has this sassy meter to her and I just love it. This is why I would marry her if I was a guy. “with her chin raised a little…” This is when Nick had first come over to Daisy and Tom's house, and Daisy and Jordan were laying on the couch. And Jordan is a very beautiful woman as well. “she was a slender, small breasted girl” not only that she acts very high class and has a good demeanor. “throwing her body backwards at her shoulders like a young cadet…” Jordan is a very independent and strong girl, she is a golfer “Jordan is going to play in a tournament tomorrow…”and has never been married, and it seems that she doesn't want to get married anytime soon. Jordan also went along with her independence. She is Smart and knows what she wants. “was too wise ever to carry well-forgotten dreams from age to age.” This is the reason why I'd marry Jordan because I feel like it is very good to have a person that can be independent when they need to be but I also just like all the aspects that Jordan has. Another thing is that I like how Jordan is always in the mix of things but is not causing the drama that is going on. “the rumor is…” “whispered Jordan…” “that's Tom's girl on the telephone…” but Jordan is always trying to get in the conversations as well, like for example is when Tom and Gatsby were having a conversation about where he went to college Jordan said “and he found he was an oxford man…” that was just Jordan putting in her little input to be a part of the conversation (She does it several more times.) Jordan is a very carefree girl and doesn't really care about what other people think or like what other people are doing. But she's not so reserved that she is scared to talk or speak her mind and that is why I'd marry her.

Kill-  I would kill Daisy. I hate Daisy due to the fact that she let Gatsby die and then left him. Daisy is just a spoiled little brat throughout the book. I hate how she just walks around and gets everything handed to her and gets treated like the glass, and if it doesn't go her way she has a huge fit about it. Not only that but she is so rude to Tom throughout the book. “I know you didn't mean to, but you did it…”“hulking” “insisted Daisy.” She didn't just say it was she said it multiple times even though Tom did say that he hated that word.  After her party she just wants everybody to go to bed at her time not when it was just time for everybody to go home but right then and there when she wanted it to be over. “ 10 o'clock…” “she remarked.” Insinuating that everybody should go home and go to bed. I hate how Daisy at the end acts like she never loved Gatsby and just left him. Gatsby says when they were young “I admired her most…” He really liked her when they were younger. Daisy never said that she never loved him but she does act like she didn't love him “her mother had found…””packing her bag…”  “say goodbye to a soldier who is going overseas…” This was five years before she reunited with Gatsby.  After they start having an affair Gatsby says “Daisy comes over quite often…” meaning that they might be sleeping together. Then when Tom went out of the room when Gatsby had finally come over to the Buchanans house she said to Gatsby “you know I love you” then why do you leave him at the end if you love him and then you act like you never did. This is why I don't like Daisy at all because she says one thing and then completely acts on another and it's so annoying. She doesn't know what she wants, she just wants to be treated like a spoiled little brat and I wouldn't want that I would not want to be treated like that if I was Gatsby and I was giving her everything that I had. Not only that but he did take the blame for her killing myrtle. “she was very nervous…” “she thought it would be steady her to drive…” Gatsby says “well, I tried to swing the wheel…” Daisy is just a coldhearted person and only cares about herself.  And getting what she wants. It's not like she was like no I can't be with you nothing she did nothing. This was after the fact that Gatsby was dead like how are you going to do nothing for a man that you said you loved. “Daisy hadn't sent a message or flowers…”  It's not like she didn't know. “I called up Daisy half an hour after we found him…” that is why I would kill Daisy because I think she is selfish,  she's careless and I think that she said she loved Gatsby but she really did it.

To end it off, these are all my personal reasons and why I would kiss, marry or kill these characters.
