Great Gatsby first 3 parties

The parties in the first three chapters of the great Gatsby. What the settings were like and also what the guests like at the parties.

The first party is Daisy's party. The place that Daisy's party was at was at her house which is described as  “a cheerful red and white George colonial mansion, overlooking the bay”meaning that they have a lot of money and power. Inside of the house they had French windows that let a warm breeze in in the afternoon, this is describing what the house is like and what the setting is. When one of the guests at the party name Tom walks in a big hunk of a man as his wife called him “that's what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking” the windows shut as tom walks in the room and Daisy and her friend are disappointed by the way that this went. Daisy is charming, Beautiful but is bored and shallow,“I'm p-paralyzed with happiness.” Miss Baker, the friend of Daisy, is described as stuck up and better than everybody else, “she nodded at me almost imperceptibly.” After the windows had shut and there was no longer a breeze going through the living room where all the girls were sitting, Daisy later finds out that Tom has a mistress in New York. “Toms got some women in New York.” It was very awkward for everybody after that, and the party was left with Miss Baker going to bed and Nick leaving and also Tom and Daisy hoping that Nick will find an interest in Jordan Baker. Nick is described as a person who cannot judge anybody “I'm inclined to reserve all judgments,” meaning that he can Judge anyone.

The second party was by Mrs. Wilson. The place at the party was held was in a small apartment very small, “the apartment was on the top floor-a small living room, a small dining room, a small bedroom and a small bath.” Not only was it so small but there was a lot of furniture. “furniture entirely too large for it,” and there was only one picture in the apartment “the only picture was over enlarged photograph.” Tom was at this party and Nick was also. Miss Wilson the what is described as “she was in her mid 30s… her face, above a spot address of a dark blue crêpe-de-chine, contained no facet or gleam of Beauty, ” meaning that she's not very pretty, later odd she changes into different dress “to a brown figured muslin.” Catherine the sister to Mrs. Wilson she is described as a worldly girl with short red hair and very white skin. “what is a slender, worldly girl about 30, with a solid, sticky bob of red hair and a complexion powdered milky white.” Another guest was Mr. McKee and he is more feminine than other men,” mr. McKee was a pale, feminine man from a flat flow,``''I gathered later that he was a photographer.” Mrs. McKee is stuck up and portrayed as she thinks she's better than everybody but is pretty, “his wife was shrill, handsome, and horrible. She told me with pride that her husband photographed her 127 times.”This party was just full of chatter and basically a get-together to know Tom's mistress. “I want you to meet my girl says Tom.” The party ends when Mrs. Wilson is shouting “Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!” And that is when Tom hits her with an open hand and breaks her nose.

The last party is Gatsby's. The setting of Gatsby's party;Nick said there were so many lights that it looks like a Christmas tree in Gatsby's Garden. “enough colored lights to make a Christmas tree of Gatsby's enormous Garden.” There was a full orchestra at Gatsby's party. “By 7 o'clock the orchestra had arrived, dolphin five pieces of fair, but a whole pot full of oboes and Travolta and saxophones,” this is all just saying that it is very well presented and unlike the other party. The people at Great Gatsby's party aren't really his friends, they are people that really just frankly showed up to party. “People were not invited, they went there, and somehow they ended up at Gatsby's door.” The people that knew Gatsby's that were at that party were Miss Baker, and Nick. Some of the guests were described as “female guests were too young to know one from another” “already there were wanderers, confident girls who weave here and there. ``One guest that has been to his parties in the past named Lucille had ripped her dress and Gatsby had sent her a new one in the mail, not just any dress at $265 dress. Lastly the gatsby was described as “short hair, tanned skin was drawn attractively tight face. ”  This party was the only entertaining because of the guests or the decorations but it was also entertaining the activities that were going on. “A pair of stage twins, girls in yellow, did a baby act in costume.” His party was very fun and entertaining.

I would want to go to a gatsby party because it seemed like it didn't have any drama and was really fun unlike the others because the other had started and ended with drama and I really wouldn't want to be in the drama if I'm at a party.
